Milwaukee, September 11, 2019…Marcus Theatres® will observe National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15, by showing a variety of Hispanic-interest and Spanish-language films at eight Marcus Theatres locations in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin and three Movie Tavern® by Marcus locations in Colorado and Texas. The third annual National Hispanic Heritage Month Film Series features a diverse line-up of 11 films ranging from art house pictures and musical documentaries to blockbusters and comedies that recognize the histories, cultures and contributions of the Latino community in the U.S. and beyond.

Award-winning dramas from the 2019 line-up include the Colombian film “Monos” (2019), Spanish film “Dolor y Goria” (“Glory and Pain,” 2019) and Mexican film “Tigers Are Not Afraid” (“Vuelven,” 2017). Audiences can also relive Gregory Nava’s Oscar-nominated film “El Norte” as part of a 35th anniversary event as well as the critically acclaimed musical documentaries “Chulas Fronteras” and “Del Mero Corazon” in a special double feature re-release.

The following Marcus Theatres and Movie Tavern locations will host the National Hispanic Heritage Month Film Series. With the exception of the Marcus Elgin (Elgin, IL) and South Shore (Oak Creek, WI) Cinemas, all locations are new additions to the series in 2019.

- September 13-19: “Tod@s Caen” (Rated PG-13): When a charming seducer meets an ambitious producer, a hilarious all-out battle of the sexes ensues.
- September 13-19: “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” (Rated PG): A teenage explorer leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold.
- September 15: “El Norte” (Rated R): Peasants escaping mindless labor and a murderous Guatemalan government head to America in hopes of something better. (35th anniversary event.)
- September 20-26: “Chulas Fronteras” and “Del Mero Corazon” Double Feature (Not Rated): “Chulas Fronteras” is a documentary about the music of the Mexican community on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border. “Del Mero Corazon” is a lyrical journey through the heart of Chicano culture.
- September 20-26: “Rambo: Last Blood” (Rated R): Rambo must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission.
- September 27-October 3: “Tigers Are Not Afraid” (“Vuelven”) (Not Rated): A dark fairy tale about children trying to survive the horrific violence of the cartels and the ghosts created every day by a drug war.
- September 27-October 3: “Abominable” (Rated PG): A teen and her mischievous friends embark on an epic quest to reunite a Yeti with his beloved family.
- October 4-10: “Monos” (Rated R): On a faraway mountaintop, eight teenage guerillas with guns watch over a hostage and conscripted milk cow
- October 4-10: “Dolor y Goria” (“Glory and Pain”) (Rated R): A film director reflects on the choices he’s made in his life as past and present come crashing down around him.
